Port of Brisbane performing well
In October the Australian port of Brisbane witnessed strong growth in its container streams, handling around 143,000 teu, a rise of 13% compared to October 2021. The increase was due to higher import as well as export volumes, namely 67,000 teu of containerised imports (+12.3%) and more than 69,000 teu of exports.
Total trade in the hub amounted to 2.72 million t, an increase of 2.6% compared to the same period in 2021. These figures are set to improve further in future, as the logistics and supply chain operator Medlog signed a 30-year lease in mid-2022 for an automated container park to be developed in the port.
