Platform for pharma logistics providers
Boehringer Ingelheim is one of the first pharmaceutical companies to have outsourced its operational tender management to a cloud-based platform since mid-2020.
Transporeon, founded in 2000, today links more than 1,300 globally active shippers and around 120,000 freight forwarders. After more than a year, Boehringer Ingelheim has quadrupled the number of its logistics tenders, despite the current volatile market situation characterised by fluctuating prices.
While the platform supplies the shippers and freight forwarders, the pharmaceutical company itself manages the schedule, the scope of the tender and the pool of service providers. The collaboration ideally results in a lower price for Boehringer Ingelheim with a better service - even in times of reduced transport capacity. (sh)
