Pilot project completed for BASF Coatings
BASF Coatings is digitising its internal processing plant transportation at the Münster production site in Germany. The chemical company chose Swiss digitisation expert Nexxiot for this pilot project. The goal was to make BASF’s logistics processes more transparent and efficient by providing alerts as soon as finished goods are ready for collection.
BASF's global Coatings division, headquartered in Münster, Germany, is a major supplier of automotive OEM and refinish coatings. With an area of more than 400,000 sqm, BASF’s plant in Münster is the world's largest production site for coatings.
Nexxiot optimised the GPS functions of the hardware and introduced geo-fences to define pick-up areas with notifications sent in real time.
This procedure prevents long downtimes, speeds up business processes and can be leveraged to improve product quality too. In 2020, the coatings division generated about EUR 3.1 billion in global sales. (sh)
