Pilot corridor for zero emissions

South Tyrol has joined the EU’s initiative for ‘Clean European Transport Corridors’, aiming to transform the Brenner route into a pilot corridor for zero-emission freight transport.

As part of the trans-European TEN-T network, the Brenner corridor is expected to play a central role in decarbonising road logistics. Developing charging hubs for electric trucks is one of the keys to this strategy.

In the first phase, existing and planned infrastructure will be mapped to identify gaps. In phase two, selected projects will receive support for fast-track planning and funding. The region is focusing on modal shift to the railways and clean road transport to enable a green freight corridor across the Alps. (js)
