Peaking for a weather research station

One of the most modern weather stations in the world is being built atop the Zugspitze, 2962 m above sea level and Germany's highest mountain. A spectrometer and other sensitive equipment weighing 1.4 t were recently brought to the research station by DSV.

Dennis Kessler, the company’s manager in charge of road special services and customer solutions, said that "we rarely cover the last mile by cable car – and with such an impressive view to boot."

The logistics service provider DSV offers its so-called ‘white glove delivery service’ for particularly sensitive transports, deploying additional personnel and offering services such as assembly or packaging take-back.

In the Zugspitze project, two vans including a lifting platform were used, as there’s a height restriction for vehicles in the gondola area. (ah)
