Partnership for more sustainable logistics

The Swedish truck manufacturer Scania, the lubrication supplier SKF, and the Lots Group, a Scania transport affiliate, have launched one of Europe’s longest routes for battery electric vehicles (BEVs), operated by haulier Ahrens Akeri.

The goal is to create recurring loops with guaranteed volumes and high vehicle utilisation to reduce the financial risk of investing in green technology. The plan to implement electric vehicles is phased, with flows being verified in early 2025 and full-scale operation planned for mid-year.

The route will cover 221,000 km a year, resulting in a saving of 298 t or 97% of CO₂ emissions, whilst optimising transport efficiency, with 85% of the vehicle’s annual mileage completed with full loads. (ben)
