Partners for a green end-to-end supply chain

PSA Singapore and Pacific International Lines (PIL) have successfully completed a trial of low-carbon green shipments as part of their efforts to decarbonise the supply chain. The initiative follows an MOU signed in October. The trial involved transporting cargo from Singapore to Chongqing using PIL's vessel “Kota Ratna” and PSA’s terminals and rail nodes.

Biofuel, comprising 24% used cooking oil, was used on the vessel, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 84.1%, equivalent to planting 4,000 trees. PSA also employed container barging and eco-friendly handling equipment to further cut emissions.

The data from this trial will help PIL optimise emissions for its current and future LNG dual-fuel vessels. The collaboration signifies a commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2050 and demonstrates a practical approach to reducing the carbon footprint of maritime and supply chain operations, the companies said.
