Packing centre for Volkswagen is ready

Panattoni Europe has finished building the multi-brand packaging centre for exporting the Volkswagen Group’s car parts according to the requisite deadline.

The German vehicle manufacturer will use the centre in the Jade Weser port in Wilhelshaven to send around 7,000 different vehicle parts, such as headlights, steering wheels and audio systems, to its overseas production facilities in Argentina, Mexico, the USA, China and elsewhere.

Panattoni Europe designed the logistics facility with five halls to provide maximum flexibility for loading/unloading, storage and picking of parts and components. The new centre will dispatch about 12,000 40 foot high cube containers per year.

Fred Markus Bohne, Panattoni Europe’s managing partner, said: "The project shows that we are able to keep to all deadlines despite the time-consuming approval processes and limited construction capacities." (mw)
