Over 500,000 t of Pacific seafood
Russian Railways (RZD) transported 507,500 t of fish products in 2020, 0.2% more than in 2019. The Pacific seafood was dispatched from the stations of Far Eastern Railways.
For the shipment of seafood, RZD has introduced a dedicated transport service as part of fast refrigerated trains on a specialised timetable within the framework of the freight express project.
With this service, customers can book the wagon spaces they need, and the goods are delivered on a timetable with an agreed departure and arrival time at the required railway station at the end of the journey.
The main volume of fish products in December 2020, 16,700 t, was shipped to consignees in Moscow, followed by 4,300 t dispatched to Novosibirsk and 4,100 t to St. Petersburg. (ben)
