Oregon's port railway to be modernised

The Port of Coos Bay in Oregon has received a USD 10 million grant from the US department of transportation for improvements of the Coos Bay Rail Line (CBRL), which serves the port.

The project will replace 67,000 crossties and resurface the main line, sidings, an industrial lead, rail yard and spur tracks with ballast along the 195 km of track that stretches from Eugene to Coos Bay, Oregon.

The short line rail road CBRL serves industrial freight shippers in Coos, Douglas, and Lane Counties in rural Oregon and interchanges with Union Pacific (UP) at its rail yard in Eugene. (ben)
