Optimised network with a new facility in Hesse
Pharmaceuticals and other sensitive and high-value goods can be sorted and transported through Germany more quickly, ecologically and economically in future. This is why trans-o-flex is celebrating the laying of the foundation stone for its new logistics centre in Driedorf, Hesse, this week.
"The new facility will further increase the capacity of our trans-o-flex Express and Thermomed networks and create new synergies between the two networks," said trans-o-flex CEO Wolfgang P. Albeck.
With a total investment of around EUR 13 million, a transshipment centre is being built there on a 41,649 sqm site, where parcels and pallets will be handled in two different temperature zones.
Previously separate facilities for the transport of chilled pharmaceuticals (2 to 8 °C) in the trans-o-flex Thermomed network and of medicines in the room temperature range (15 to 25 °C) in the trans-o-flex Express network will be combined at the new centre.
At the new site, trans-o-flex will have a total of 81 loading and unloading gates with only around 5,000 sqm of hall space. The centre in Driedorf is due to commence operations in spring 2021. (mw)
