OOIL publishes its results for 2018
OOIL and its subsidiaries report a profit of USD 108.2 million for 2018, compared to USD 137.7 million in 2017. Total throughput amounted to 6.7 million teu last year, compared to the 6.3 million teu handled in 2017.
2018 was a landmark year in the development of OOIL. In July, Cosco Shipping acquired OOIL. As of the end of 2018, the combined group operated a fleet of 477 container vessels with a total shipping capacity of 2.76 million teu, and had an order book of nearly 180,000 teu.
During the year, the group took delivery of the sixth (and last) of a total of six ‘giga’ class 21,400 teu vessels from the Samsung heavy industries shipyard in South Korea. (kd)
