OOCL's new flagship vessel

OOCL celebrated the naming of its first 16,828 teu container vessel, "OOCL Bauhinia", at Dacks shipyard, marking its first neo-Panamax vessel in a decade. Named after Hong Kong's city flower, the ship underscores OOCL's 55-year connection to the city.

With advanced eco-friendly technologies, a carrying capacity of 16,828 teu, and compliance with environmental standards, it sets benchmarks in energy efficiency and digital intelligence.

The vessel will serve the transpacific PCC1 route between Asia and the US West Coast. It is the first of ten similar vessels ordered by OOCL, reflecting its commitment to sustainable shipping and enhanced operational efficiency.

In its press release, OOCL highlighted the ship's role in reducing carbon emissions and enhancing shipping efficiency, further aligning with global sustainable development goals. (pb)
