One year as a freight-only carrier
On 19 March 2020, United operated its first flight carrying cargo without passengers on board. While the passenger cabin was empty, its cargo hold was completely full, carrying more than 14.5 t of commodities from Chicago to Frankfurt.
A year later, United Cargo has operated more than 11,000 cargo-only flights carrying more than 285,000 t of freight. To support Covid-19 pandemic recovery efforts, more than 56,000 t of medical and pharmaceutical products have been moved on both cargo-only and passenger flights as well as approximately 10 million Covid-19 vaccines.
Since last March, United Cargo has transported almost 425,000 t of freight on cargo-only and passenger flights. The airline continues to monitor market trends and adjust its cargo-only flight schedules to meet customers' shipping needs. (ah)
