ONE takes another step towards digitalisation
ONE makes digital and mutually enforceable contracts part of its business environment. The shipping group joins a number of carriers that use the platform NYSHEX. Seven of the major global ocean carriers are already on board, representing not only approx. 60% of global capacity, but all three container shipping alliances: 2M, Ocean Alliance and THE Alliance.
Sundeep Sibal, senior vice president of Trans Pacific and Trans Atlantic trade at ONE, commented: "The guaranteed equipment, space and price that we offer through NYSHEX will help our customers plan their supply chains and lock in their transport costs up front."
ONE will initially begin posting selective offers for the Transpacific Eastbound trade on the exchange from mid-December 2019 for January sailings. Digital contracts made through NYSHEX have achieved a fulfilment rate of 98.4%, improving reliability for both shippers as well as carriers. Furthermore, the platform is expanding its services.
From early 2020 on, contracts will be able to cater for multiple origins and destinations, as well as longer validities. (fd)
