"ONE Stork" lands in Halifax
The Canadian port of Halifax has welcomed the first of the upsized EC5 vessels. The "ONE Stork", with carrying capacity of 14,000 teu and 364 m length overall, arrived recently at PSA Halifax Atlantic Hub for Ocean Network Express (ONE), a member of THE Alliance.
With a continuous quay length of 800 m at a depth of 16.5 m, PSA Halifax Atlantic Hub terminal features the longest and deepest berth of any port in Eastern Canada. It has a terminal area of 32 hectares, five super post-Panamax (SPPX) cranes and unimpeded access to international shipping lanes.
Two additional SPPX cranes will arrive later this year along with new yard handling equipment, solidifying the port's position "as the mega port of choice in Atlantic Canada," said Jan Van Mossevelde, CEO of PSA Halifax. (lh)
