ONE names first owned newbuilding
Ocean Network Express (ONE) has named its first fully owned and operated new containership, the ‘One Sparkle’.
Built at Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan (South Korea), the vessel has a 13,800 teu capacity and is part of a series of 20 ammonia and methanol-ready ships scheduled for delivery in 2025 and 2026.
The ‘One Sparkle’ features an optimised hull, energy-saving equipment, smart technology integration and shore-power connectivity for zero-emission port stays. Its alternative fuel-ready design allows future conversion to methanol or ammonia.
ONE CEO Jeremy Nixon is convinced that “these advanced vessels will play a crucial role in meeting our environmental targets, whilst simultaneously enhancing our service reliability.” (js)
