On track to improve performance
Despite a sharp fall in transport volumes because of the corona crisis, the Swiss railfreight company SBB Cargo maintains its plans for restructuring and further development, said Désirée Baer, who assumed the position of CEO at SBB Cargo 100 days ago.
Deploying various strategies, Baer aims to improve the company's profitability by optimising the transport network, tailoring its services to meet specific customer requirements and consistently leveraging the railway's advantages as an eco-friendly means of transport.
The carrier's position in the market is also strengthened by its partnership with Swiss Combi, Baer added. SBB Cargo transports around 29.8 million t of goods in Switzerland per year, equalling roughly 10,000 truck journeys per day. (ben)
