On the way back to normality
Samskip is enhancing its presence on various rail lanes on the European continent, after a brief period of decreasing rail haulage activity between the companies’ rail terminal in Duisburg, Germany and the Northern European markets.
The Danish authorities recently gave the approval to increase rail activity through Denmark for limited capacity. This allows Samskip to raise trailer volumes via rail through this country.
With this decision, the Dutch multimodal operator believes it has taken a huge step towards stabilising volumes and returning to normal operating routines for various rail shuttles between Germany and Sweden. Last week, the first trains departed with trailers via Denmark in cooperation with partner Hector Rail. (ben)
