Ocean truck: a significant reduction of GHG
Toyota Motor North America and Kenworth Truck Company have proven that their jointly designed heavy-duty, Class 8 fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) could be a zero-emissions alternative to replace diesel-powered trucks.
The two companies have completed their test operations in the zero- and near-zero emissions freight facilities “shore to store” project in USA at the Port of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles basin and the Inland Empire with ten trucks serving real-world customers.
The so-called Ocean trucks reduced greenhouse gases (GHG) by 74.66 t of CO2 per truck annually compared to the baseline diesel engine. Now, Toyota is planning to produce fuel-cell powertrain modules in Kentucky from 2023. (ben)
