NYK: more wind energy to reduce emissions
A new approach for NYK Bulkship (Atlantic): the subsidiary of the NYK Group is planning to implement wind-assisted ship-propulsion on a bulk carrier under a long-term charter contract with Cargill International. With this project, the partners aim to decrease greenhouse gas emissions during navigation.
The Ventofoil wind-assisted propulsion unit, developed by Econowind, will be used to collect data on propulsion efficiency and its environmental impact.
This initiative aligns with NYK's strategy for reducing emissions and promoting energy-saving technologies in the maritime industry, contributing to its overall sustainability goals. (pb)
