Northern cargo hub imports Covid-19
An individual associated with an Anchorage-bound cargo flight was tested positive for Covid-19. The patient is a non-US national who developed a fever and respiratory symptoms shortly after arriving at Anchorage airport on 11 March 2020, before going to Alaska Regional Hospital for testing.
Cargo flights to ANC strictly adhere to guidelines set out by US authorities, and they are completely separate from any passenger flights at ANC. Cargo is not considered a health risk according to the centres for disease control and prevention.
Currently there is no evidence to support transmission of Covid-19 associated with imported goods, and cargo flights are not affected by the travel ban imposed by the Trump administration, the most recent, concerning the Schengen Area, coming into effect past week-end. (ah)
