North Dakota receives intermodal access to ports
US State North Dakota has opened an intermodal rail hub which is operated by Rail Modal Group (RMG) Minot and served by BNSF railway. The introduction of the intermodal rail service marks the culmination of more than two decades of North Dakota’s effort to gain access to intermodal transportation. The dream came true when Minot recently dispatched its first intermodal unit train.
The new intermodal service allows producers and processors to load containers in Minot and ship them by rail to the ports for international destinations. Minot’s facility will provide service to The Northwest Seaport Alliance with on-dock trains to terminals in Seattle and Tacoma, RMG said. (ben)
