Norsepower's eco yoyage

Oldendorff Carriers and Norsepower have joined forces to reduce CO2 emissions in shipping. They will outfit the bulk carrier 'Dietrich Oldendorff' with three 24 m x 4 m Norsepower Rotor Sails, which will actively rotate, harnessing wind to save fuel and reduce emissions.

The huge, spinning rotors are partly manufactured from approximately 342,000 plastic bottles, The sails have been used by top shipping companies for a decade, cutting 21,000+ t of CO2 emissions.

The 'Dietrich Oldendorff' will operate on a North Pacific trade route to Asia after the installation in mid-2024. This partnership supports eco-friendly shipping and highlights the need for creativity and collaboration in minimising pollution. (pb)
