Noronha next CEO of Shipping Australia
Scott Henderson, chairman of Shipping Australia (SAL), a peak national shipping association comprising 29 shipping lines and ships’ agents that handle over 70% of Australia’s container and car trade, announced that Melwyn Noronha will be appointed as the next CEO, effective 1 January 2021.
He replaces Rod Nairn, who has led the organisation since 2013. Before joining SAL, which was founded 20 years ago, Noronha served at sea and sailed internationally as a master of bulk carriers before moving ashore into maritime administrative and regulatory roles in federal and state governments.
Henderson: "The board is looking forward to working with Noronha to ensure SAL continues to deliver on its objectives to promote an efficient and sustainable international shipping industry." (amh)
