Noerpel to acquire Erka
The Noerpel Group, headquartered in Ulm, Germany, is taking over Erka Internationale Spedition in Stuttgart, Germany, with retroactive effect from 1 January 2023. With the acquisition, Noerpel Group is significantly expanding its market position in Germany and strengthening its pan-European transport business, especially to and from Italy and Western Europe, the company said.
Erka was founded in 1977 and specialised in Italian transports until 1996. Then it began to add many international routes in rapid succession. Today, the carrier offers a total of 65 direct scheduled services within Europe. With more than 1,000 international shipments per day, Erka serves 41 destinations in Italy, France, Spain, and UK alone. The forwarder's turnover was around EUR 67 million in 2022.
Noerpel and Erka are both family-owned companies and are already linked by a long-standing partnership. Noerpel transports more than 2,500 international shipments daily and generated a turnover of around EUR 600 million in 2022.
The merger with Erka will enable Noerpel to further increase departure frequencies, offer additional target destinations and realise shorter transit times. The transaction still has to be approved by the relevant competition authorities. (ben)
