No breakbulk fair, but nevertheless big event in Bremen
Some weeks ago, it was announced that Breakbulk Europe, the world's largest fair specialising in heavy cargo logistics, will not open today, 26 May 2020 but has been postponed to 29 September - 1 October.
Nevertheless, the airport of Bremen, the city on the northern coast of Germany that will host the fair, recently welcomed an unusually large visitor: a B777F of Qatar Airways landed on 2 May having carried protective equipment from Shanghai via Doha.
BRE, which provides air links between Bremen/Bremerhaven and other logistics hubs in Europe and operates a 4,500 sqm cargo handling hall for this purpose, handled 525 t of air cargo and air mail last year, 16% less than 2018. The airport posted a throughput of 109 t in Q1/2020, down almost 25% from Q1/2019. (ah)
