NHLML and IWAI to develop multimodal hub

India’s ‘National Highways Logistics Management Ltd’ (NHLML) and its Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAL) have signed an mou to establish a multimodal logistics park in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh (India). The agreement was formalised in the presence of ministers Nitin Gadkari and Sarbananda Sonowal (both pictured).

The 150 acre logistics park will be linked to the NH7 motorway by a 650m access road and will be integrated into the eastern dedicated freight corridor through a 5.1 km railway connection from Jeonathpur station. Additionally, it is located 30 km from Varanasi's Lal Bahadur Shastri airport.

The project aims to boost investment, generate employment and enhance trade efficiency, reinforcing India’s logistics infrastructure. It is in line with the country’s strategy to strengthen the logistics sector and support economic growth, as the ministry of ports, shipping and waterways said. (js)
