Next unicorn raises its horn
The knights of open shirt sleeves and broism are making their way in Europe. The digital freight forwarder Sennder has completed its Series D financing round and receives an investment volume of USD 160 million.
The funding round has now led the company's valuation to over USD 1 billion. Investors include leading European venture capitalists such as Accel, Lakestar, HV Capital, Project A and Scania. Sennder has received more than USD 260 million in funding to date.
Founded in 2015, the company wants to continue to focus on replicating the successful strategic partnership with Poste Italiane. Through the joint venture, Sennder has enabled the Italian Post to save more than 6% of its annual expenses of EUR 100 million.
Sennder will further intensify and continue the successful strategic partnerships with Scania and Siemens. In 2020, the company carried out the merger with the French competitor Everoad in June 2020 which was followed by the takeover of the European freight business from Uber Freight in September. J.P. Morgan Securities was the placement agent for Sennders' Series D funding. (sh)
