Next project for ABB and Rio Grande terminal
Wilson Sons, an integrated port and maritime logistics operator based in Brazil, has chosen ABB’s Optical Character Recognition (OCR) for its ship-to-shore cranes at Rio Grande container terminal. ABB provides automation, electrification, and digitalisation services for process and hybrid industries. The software has been chosen to cooperate with the Quay Pro module in order to automate the identification of containers and digitalise stowage confirmation processes.
Paulo Bertinetti, executive director of the Rio Grande terminal, Giovanni Phonlor, operations director of the terminal, and Richard Micheli, product line manager OCR (ABB Marine & Ports), welcomed this new collaboration.
The Rio Grande terminal has been using ABB’s automated gate systems since 2013.The new software will enable it to optimise its operations and improve efficiency. (lh)
