New Zealand's Napier port enhances equipment
Napier port, the third largest port on New Zealand’s North Island, is currently developing a sixth wharf which, at 350 m long, will be capable of handling the larger vessels that are expected to access the port in the near future.
Already hosting a range of vessels, including container ships, cruise ships, cargo and timber carriers, the port is now extending its fleet of tugs, having placed an order with Damen Shipyards Group for an azimuth tractor drive (ATD) tug for delivery still within 2019, as it is available from stock at Damen Shipyards Song Cam in Vietnam. The new tug will join two existing Voith-type tugs at the port, the “Te Mata” and “Ahuriri”. (fd)
