New vessel to speed up FRS service
The FRS group is introducing a new vessel to operate the Melilla - Motril route. The ro-pax ship, "Golden Bridge", will start operations on the line next May. The vessel, with an overall length of 186 m and beam of up to 24 m, can make the Melilla - Motril crossing in five hours, thus reducing the current crossing time by two hours.
The vessel, which is being completely refurbished and adapted to the needs of the Melilla - Motril line, can carry more than 1,500 passengers, 500 vehicles and cargo. The "FRS Iberia", that has operated the Melilla – Motril crossing since July 2018, has been active in the Gibraltar Straits since 2000.
The company covers the Tarifa - Tangier, Algeciras - Ceuta, Algeciras - Tangier Med, Motril - Melilla and Huelva – Canary Isles routes. (kd)
