New vessel pioneers sustainable power
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (Mol) has taken delivery of the ‘Prima Verde’, the world’s first multipurpose vessel combining marine gas oil propulsion (MGO) with wind-assisted technology.
The vessel, built at the Onomichi Dockyard and operated by Mol Drybulk, incorporates ‘JGreeX’ green steel, reducing CO₂ emissions during construction. It features a high-efficiency MGO engine and two ‘VentoFoil’ wind propulsion devices, expected to cut fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
The ‘Prima Verde’ is in line with Mol’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. (pb)
