New technology to load truck trailers
In Sweden, currently only 10% to 20% of all truck trailers can be transported by rail. Green Cargo has now tested a new technology, the Roadraillink r2L loading system, at the combined transport terminal in Folkesta.
It works like a basket onto which the trailer is driven and then lifted onto the railway wagon. The basket remains on the trolley during train journey and is lifted again immediately upon arrival.
After the trial loading, Green Cargo sees great potential for shifting larger quantities of trucks with trailers onto rail.The carrier now wants to examine how it can use the new technology in wagonload traffic. (ben)
