New system to manage train movement
Union Pacific Railroad (UP) is implementing the advanced movement planner (AMP) developed by digital specialist Opt Rail as part of its new CADX system. The technology is primary used by UP's dispatchers to manage train movement safely and efficiently across its 23-state network in USA.
AMP provides real-time information on the hundreds of trains moving through the system, identifying potential delays or disruptions. In some cases, it may be used to automatically correct these potential issues without involving the dispatcher.
The companies expect to complete the implementation of the new software in the US class I railroad’s 52,000 km system by the end of 2021. (ben)
