New Swiss parcel hub in operation
Swiss Post has opened a new parcel hub in Vétroz (canton Valais). The company invested around CHF 60 million in the construction and infrastructure of this third of a total of four new regional parcel centres. The Vétroz location brings together the activities of the existing logistics hubs in Bex, Brig, Sion and Siders.
130 employees will be moved to the new location. In addition, Swiss Post will hire around 20 new staff, so that the workforce in Vétroz will rise to 150 people.
Vétroz is in a key geographic position and well connected to the motorway network. Another advantage is that the hub is situated in an industrial area and not in the vicinity of residential homes.
Parcels that are posted and delivered in the region no longer have to be taken to be processed in the parcel centre in Daillens (canton Vaud). (mw)
