New ships in DP World fleet promise fuel savings
DP World has expanded its marine fleet with two newbuildings, the ‘Navios Utmost’and the ‘Navios Unite’, which were named at a ceremony in China’s Changhong shipyard.
These Sapphire 5300 compact gearless containerships are part of DP World’s fleet renewal, focusing on efficiency and sustainability. Both ships feature advanced technologies for improved cargo handling, fuel savings and reduced carbon emissions, with the ‘Navios Utmost’ expected to cut bunker fuel use by 1,700 t annually. Their compact design allows for easier access to smaller ports, expanding supply chain networks.
The vessels will serve routes in Asia, with the ‘Navios Utmost’ joining the Far East–Madras express service and the ‘Navios Unite’ sailing in the Asian Gulf–India service. (pb)
