New record for PSA Singapore
PSA Singapore has compared the results of the financial years 2022 and 2021. In 2022, it achieved a new record in container throughput measured in teus since PSA Jurong Island Terminal began operations in 2012. On 31 December 2022, PSA Singapore recorded an annual volume of 130,000 teu, 30% above the figure registered on 31 December 2021.
One of terminal’s main objectives is the decarbonisation programme to reach net zero emissions by 2050. It is currently making good progress, as the company was able to reduce up to 37% of carbon emissions for each teu in 2022, resulting in savings of 1,950 t of CO2.
PSA also uses electric or hybrid cranes, which can save at least 50% of fuel and make big contribution towards achieving the port’s decarbonisation goals. (Ih)
