New rail hub opens in California
Genesee & Wyoming Railroad (GWR) has opened a new bulk transfer facility on its San Joaquin Valley Railroad (SJVR) subsidiary in Millux CA (USA).
Operated by G&W railroads, the new terminal is used to transfer bulk materials, including agricultural, industrial and petroleum products, between railcars and trucks, providing customers that are not located directly on a railroad with the opportunity to reduce transport costs by using rail.
Initially serving clay customers, the facility, with flexible operating hours, can accommodate 20 railcars and features an on-site truck scale for weighing. G&W’s 600 km long short line railroad SJVR has access to the US class I railroads BNSF and Union Pacific. (ben)
