New project on recycled site
Garbe Industrial Real Estate and Bremer project development have begun construction of a logistics centre in the Hanau Technology Park. Following extensive revitalisation, the new headquarters for "tesa nie wieder bohren GmbH" will be completed by the end of 2020 and cover a total area of around 20,000 sqm.
Garbe Industrial Real Estate and the Bremer project development acquired the approx. 35,000 sqm property in the Hanau Technology Park as a joint venture just over a year ago. Fuel elements for nuclear power plants were produced on the site until the end of the 1980s. A remaining bunker had to be demolished to make the fallow land usable for logistic and commercial purposes.
This involved the use of 18 t of explosives and left 90,000 t of debris, which were recycled on site and reused as a base layer. "We are pleased to have won 'tesa nie wieder bohren' as a long-term tenant and to realise the new company headquarters," says Jan Dietrich Hempel, managing director of Garbe Industrial. The company, which employs around 100 people, will use a substantial part of the property for its own purposes. (mw)
