New president for pilot services on the Seine
Laurent Letty has been appointed president of the River Seine pilot station. Letty, the previous vice-president, replaces Catherine Cornu, whose three-year term of office expired. François Cadoret has been chosen for the post of vice-president/secretary general of the French entity.
When taking office, Letty declared: "The Seine pilot station is flourishing, it's on the move." The first tasks of the new president is to recruit two new pilots. "We will start searching in mid-September," Letty said.
The training is exacting, takes five years and includes around 1,200 pilotage services. The 52 pilots on the Seine fulfil about 11,000 pilotage services per year. (mw)
