New president for Germany's railway industry
At the annual general meeting of Die Bahnindustrie, the German association for the railway industry (VDB), Volker Schenk resigned from his position as president after a four years’ mandate.
“This year was marked by a focus on eco-friendly, future-oriented mobility services. And we are only at the beginning. We are the future where climate is concerned,” Schenk said. The VDB’s new president will be Michael Fohrer, chairman of the board and president of region Central and Eastern Europe and Israel at Bombardier Transportation as well as VDB’s vice president rolling stock.
“Climate change and the transformation of transport are the topics at the top of the agenda worldwide. Germany’s railway industry will make its contribution in these exciting times and develop new technologies for the digitisation of the railways and thus assume a pioneering role for more sustainable transport in Germany.” says Michael Fohrer.
Siemens mobility infrastructure CEO André Rodenbeck was elected as the VDB’s new vice president rolling stock and digitisation. (mw)
