New port railway for Amsterdam

Global Petro Storage (GPS) and the port of Amsterdam have signed an agreement to develop a railcar connection on the land adjacent to GPS’s existing 11-tank gasoline and biofuel storage and blending facility.

GPS intends to set up a rail link to the public network and to points across Europe that will increase its efficiency and broaden the range of services for its customers.

The agreement complements the port of Amsterdam’s strategy of sustainable development, which endorses the importance of good rail connections to and from the region. A first step has been taken by applying for permits for the railcar connection. (ben)
