New PCS in Indonesia
Indian provider Kale Logistics Solutions has rolled out Indonesia's port community system (PCS) in the Port of Rembang. The port, located in the country’s central Java province, uses the system to fast track, streamline and automate stakeholder interactions at the port.
The Port of Rembang is a member of Indonesia Port Business Association (Abupi), a forum that supports the development of the country’s the maritime sector.
The so-called Codex PCS digitises shipment bookings, delivery orders, manifests, vessel registration, pilotage and berth allocation, truck appointment and a variety of other features.
The online appointment of slot booking for transporters through the Codex portal and its associated mobile application enables truckers and port authorities to synchronise cargo movement in and out of the port. In the short time since going live, the PCS has reduced the average truck dwell time by nearly 70% and waiting time at the gate has been shortened by approximately 80%. (sh)
