New ownership for two US shortline railroads
Ironhorse has acquired the Sequatchie Valley Railroad and the Walking Horse and Eastern Railroad. The Tennessee (USA)-based railroads will be renamed Sequatchie Valley Switching Company (SQSC) and the Walking Horse Railroad (WHRR).
SQSC is an 18.5 km shortline railroad serving south central Tennessee from a connection with the US class I railroad CSX at Bridgeport AL. WHRR is an 13 km shortline railroad serving middle Tennessee from a connection with CSX at Wartrace TN.
Ironhorse is the parent company of nine companies which operate six shortline railroads, three transload facilities and two trucking companies. (ben)
