New Orleans: transloading park to open in summer
The New Orleans Public Belt Railroad (NOPB) and the port of New Orleans are continuing to upgrade infrastructures for shippers to move freight more efficiently between rail and truck into America’s heartland.
The class III railroad awarded a USD 2,209,635 contract to the Cycle Construction Company to construct a transload yard on the NOPB Transloading Industrial Park in New Orleans East.
Once finished, it will have the capacity to service up to 21 railcars. Other infrastructure improvements including three additional rail tracks, rail switching capabilities, drainage and road upgrades will also be made. Construction is expected to begin in April 2024 and is to be completed in summer 2024. (ben)
