New option for dangerous goods declaration
The Geis Group, based in Neu-Isenburg near Frankfurt (Germany), digitalised the registration of dangerous goods for its customer Siemens Healthineers within a few weeks, with the support of IT service provider Dakosy.
The freight forwarding group, which surpassed the threshold of EUR 1 billion turnover in FY 2019 for the first time, needed a dangerous-goods platform featuring the alternative usage variants EDI and web.
"Programming an interface with subsequent testing would have been too time-consuming. We were able to start with the web solution quickly," said Jochen Maul, logistics manager at Geis. He added: "With INFr8, we’ve been able to reduce documentation errors and minimise data-entry work for dangerous goods declarations.”
The features include integration of the Iata database, which validates the corresponding dangerous goods data when the UN number is entered, as well as an option to store master data, amongst others.
Dakosy, provider and operator of the platform, plans to integrate the automated generation of dangerous goods accompanying documents for maritime transport (IMO) and road and rail transport (ADR and RID) by the end of the year. (sh)
