New multimodal access to the port of Barcelona

In a joint effort between the authorities and private companies, a protocol has been inked concerning the new southern road and rail accesses to the port of Barcelona.

The ministry of public works, the Generalitat de Catalunya; Adif, the Spanish corporation of rail networks,; the state port authority; and the port of Barcelona have adopted the building plan established in the information study approved on 22 October 2007.

Works will commence in the coming months, particularly on several double sections of mixed (Iberian and standard gauge) railtracks and on road access from the coastal ring road B-10, about 800 m from the Cornellà junction to the distribution junction at the port entrance, known as Nus Nord. (cd)
