New member of the board of harbour commissioners
The Long Beach city council voted unanimously to confirm Mayor Robert Garcia’s appointment of Steven Neal to the board of harbour commissioners, which oversees the Port of Long Beach and the staff of the city’s harbour department.
Neal is a former city council member. His first meeting as a harbour commissioner is scheduled for 26 August. Neal was appointed to a six-year term that will expire in June 2025. He is replacing commissioner Lori Ann Guzmán, whose term began in December 2013 and ends on 12 August, as she embarks on her new responsibilities as city manager of Costa Mesa.
Neal will be the 70th Long Beach harbour commissioner since the current commission structure was formed in 1925. Harbour commissioners are appointed by the mayor to a maximum of two six-year terms. (mw)
