New maritime code for Cape Verde
From sustainable fishing projects in the Adriatic Sea to the new drainage programmes in the Niger Delta, the International Maritime Safety Security and Environment Academy (Imssea) is committed to playing an active role.
Lately, it assisted in the revision of the new Maritime Code of Cape Verde. The African country’s maritime code was in effect for twelve years, and after a long review process, supported by Imssea, Cape Verde can now benefit from a regulatory framework in line with international standards and conventions.
Imssea was recently elected to lead the new European project to help cope with climate change as a cause of conflict in coastal communities of West Africa (C7-West Africa). C7-WA aims to improve the resilience of coastal communities in West Africa to climate change and conflict. (sh)
